Pensioners Eye a Good Cause and Other Coffee Morning News

In a fruitful coffee morning organised in Radlett, UK, members of the senior population raised an impressive £820 for an eye care unit in the local Hillingdon Hospital.
The gathering, where visitors paid a £1 entry fee as well as participating in a tombola and a horticulturally-inspired quiz, was designed to increase awareness of macular degeneration associated with age.
Meanwhile, the diabetes centre at Kidderminster Hospital has announced plans for a fundraising coffee morning on 10 December. Taking place between 10am and midday, the gathering will be attended by a number of notable guests, including the mayor of the town, Conservative MP Mark Garnier, Jeffrey Baker and Helen Blanchard, the latter directing the areas of nursing and midwifery for the Worcestershire NHS Trust.
Members of the glucose committee as well as a dietician will also be in attendance and available to answer questions as they arise, with all money raised on the morning to be put towards educational resources at the diabetes centre.
And in a Greatham, Hartlepool pub this weekend, it will be all hands on deck to raise money for Children in Need. With a karaoke night and raffle set to commence proceedings on Friday, the Smiths Arms will then follow this up with a coffee morning on the Saturday, which will involve a grand auction where numerous items will be going under the hammer – a signed Hartlepool United football top and pedal bikes among a host of other interesting offerings.
