Coffee Memorabilia Exhibited in Vietnam

Trung Nguyen, Vietnam’s leading coffee processing business, recently opened up an exhibition of some 100 coffee items, both new and old, in Ho Chi Minh City.
Set to run until 4 January 2011, the exhibition is said to introduce its visitors to the processes that have been involved in crafting the perfect cup of coffee over the years – highlighting different periods in time as well as specific methods employed in certain parts of the world.
The selection of coffee memorabilia being shown in Vietnam form part of a wider collection of around 10,000 items that the coffee processor has been able to acquire from Jens Burg, a gentleman in charge of a large coffee museum located in Germany.
Of the 100 selected pieces exhibited in Trung Nguyen’s home market, these are representative of both the ancient and modern day coffee culture and are even more significant in their capacity as the first-ever such coffee industry exhibition to take place in the country.
Displayed at the International Coffee Museum in the central highlands town of Buon Ma Thuot in the Dak Lak province, the items’ counterparts can also be found in museums situated in Brazil, Ethiopia, Japan, Germany and the UK.
In other Vietnamese coffee news, Thai Hoa Vietnam Group, positioned amongst the country’s largest coffee exporters, has recently secured initial approval for its listing on the Hanoi Stock Exchange. This was granted on 55 shares representing the company’s capital of 550 billion dong (equating to US$28.2 million).
