A Bristol-based independent coffee house company by the name of Coffee #1, which has already established 14 coffee outlets across the South West of the country, has identified Penarth as the perfect location for its next new coffee house.

The chosen premises, which Coffee #1 has been searching for in the area for some time, is a currently unoccupied former off-license on Penarth’s Windsor Road. Positioned between a Cornish pasty shop and a restaurant called the Ocho Lounge, the new location is said to be "perfect for a cosy new coffee house" according to the company.

Having enlisted the help of property consultants to find the perfect position for its coffee outlet, work on converting the former off-licence is progressing well, with the venue expected to open at the end of January.
Penarth is already well catered for in terms of coffee shops and cafes, competing outlets including North Meets South in Windsor Arcade, the Windsor Restaurant and Tea Room, also in the arcade, the Blue Pelican Café at Hamptons, the recently-opened Florentines and The Busy Teapot. Others also join the list, Café Des Amis on Stanwell Road, the Washington Gallery’s café and Foxy’s, the latter a little further out of the area. Coffee #1 is nevertheless confident that its chosen location will allow the business to tap the growing coffee opportunity in the Welsh town.
