Travelling Coffee Morning to Cover More Ground

The Rural Coffee Caravan Information Project was established by 2003 by Suffolk’s Reverend Canon Sally Fogden. Designed to get to grips with rural isolation as well as promoting a sense of community spirit, the project has been visiting villages in the mid Suffolk area since its inception.
And in the hope that its latest move will help the project reach new villages, Coffee Caravan is updating its website. Speaking of progress to date on the web revamp, project manager, Ann Osborn, commented, "The new website is a great improvement, more user-friendly and allowing us to reach more people as well as giving people more ways of helping us."
The project operates throughout the year, travelling to village halls, events and coffee mornings and brings information on every aspect that local communities could wish to hear about, from local events to benefits.
An independent charity, The Rural Coffee Caravan Information Project is funded by grant-issuing bodies, local councils and private donations. Having hatched the idea for a mobile community café and information centre eight years ago, Fogden and some colleagues invested in a caravan, gathered some relevant information, baked some cakes and took Coffee Caravan into rural Suffolk.
The caravan started out making visits during the summertime but has since grown to now cover the entire county. A second vehicle, in the form of a camper van, has now been introduced. This visits coffee mornings and village halls throughout the course of the year.
