Fit as a fiddle at coffee mornings

Drinking coffee is a sociable activity and it is sinking deep into our psyche. The urban coffee culture has been celebrated in TV programmes such as the American show, Friends and many sociable activities gravitate around drinking caffeine, such as the dating chat-up line, "Would you like to go out for a coffee?"
Age Concern in Durham County is also using this social catalyst to develop a programme to improve the health and wellbeing of people over 50 years old. A series of three coffee mornings have been organised to pamper the older generations, as part of the charities Fit as a Fiddle project.
How will Age Concern be treating its visitors and improving their joie de vivre? For ladies wanting to pick up a few tips on how to make themselves even more beautiful and glamorous, make-up demonstrations have been organised at various locations in the county. A more unisex option is also available – hand massages are on offer too, which should help to relax and treat visitors simultaneously.
The organising charity is also anxious to widen the net and make as many people as possible feel welcome. As such, there is no entrance fee for any of these pampering treatments, although, of course, if you feel minded or moved to make a donation to the excellent cause, then all monies would be gratefully received.
This is in keeping with the charitable mood of the week, which includes the nationally successful Red Nose Day on Friday 18th March 2011.
