Coffee morning to raise money for the homeless

Estate Agency Foundation

Did you realise that your local estate agents have a heart after all? Forget the jokes and the snubs about the profession – the industry has been working hard for the homeless and has noble aims in mind. What are they doing? The Estate Agency Foundation has been set up to promote aid to homeless people. Its goal is to galvanise the estate agency industry to raise money for appropriate charities for those living rough.

The agency Connells in Chase Meadows has also been doing its part. The Estate Agency Foundation has been encouraging its members to hold coffee mornings to raise funds for this project and Connells is one of the agencies that have taken part.

Coffee mornings have long been traditional fund-raising events as visitors like to browse over stalls, chat and sip on a warm beverage. The charities that will have benefited from the recent Connells event include Shelter, Crisis and Centre Point.

The Foundation hopes to raise £100,000 for these and other charities to help those on the streets during 2011. It is easy to sign up to hold a similar coffee morning – just log onto the website and follow the instructions.

The Estate Agency Foundation also raises money in other ways. There is another event in the pipeline – later in June, there will be a football 5-a-side gig at The Goals Soccer Centre in Wembley for the prize of winning the EAF cup. Last year was successful with over 25 teams taking part – let’s hope that this year will be even better.
