St Michael’s Hospice benefits from coffee morning

St Michael's Hospice

In true fund-raising style, a coffee morning was held recently in Ledbury in aid of the St Michael’s Hospice. It is a traditional way of raising money isn’t it? Coffee is responsible for bringing many people together in many different scenarios, especially the good old coffee morning when funds are raised for good causes at the same time as the visitors natter and sip on a delicious beverage of coffee.

This particular event was especially successful. The gathering at the Royal British Legion Club managed to rustle up a cool £831, according to reports, for the charity. The event was supported by local individuals and businesses alike – the latter donated prizes for the event too.
The organiser of the event, Pam Hathaway, has done some fantastic work for the St Michael’s Hospice and she is quoted as having raised more than £6,000 for the charity to date.

Of course, the cause is a very deserving one. The Hospice works to improve the quality of life for those reaching the end of their lives, whether caused by cancer or another terminal illness. Some of the care that is provided is directly practical and also that which is less obvious, such as campaigning to change local and regional strategies on the care of those at the end of their lives.

As such, the contribution by the Ledbury coffee morning is especially well-received and will be used, no doubt, for some very worthwhile and helpful support for those in need, as cared for by the Hospice.
