Coffee fund-raising for Children in Need

Most of us are familiar with the BBC’s initiative Children in Need – when the country goes to town to raise money for children who have various unmet needs, sometimes essential needs which are unfilled. The entertainment industry in the UK is well-known for its generosity in raising funds for good causes and Children in Need is one of the biggest success stories in this area.
However, all sorts of efforts are made to raise funds. For example, consider the Skegness coffee shop, the Coffee Bean. Recently it, too, has done its part in making some money for the charity. What did they do to make some cash? The staff dressed up in pyjamas and also had a ‘guess the name of the teddy bear’ competition. There was, in addition, a collection over the two day period. In total the coffee shop managed to raise £134.63.
The Children in Need scheme has gone from strength to strength over the years, partly due to the original and new ideas that the BBC comes up with. For example, in December this year, the BBC announced that they were launching an Emergency Essentials Programme. This initiative would award emergency welfare grants to the most needy and disadvantaged young people in the country. An astonishing £2million has been committed by the BBC towards essential items for needy families – by essential items, the funds are intended for basics such as a daily hot meal and bed to sleep in.
The monies raised by every endeavour, big or small, such as the Skegness coffee morning, will all go to this good cause.
