The news of the research done by the Harvard School of Public Health has spread far and wide. It is potentially good news for coffee loving ladies – and here’s why.

The study provided some evidence, apparently, that if you drink more than four cups of coffee on a daily basis, there is a potentially corresponding reduction in the risk of contracting endometrial cancer – and the study is said to reveal that the percentage reduction is significant – 25% no less.
There are many studies the world over into the effects of drinking coffee and this latest one is encouraging. Of course, more work needs to be done before formal advice to coffee-drinkers and cancer-sufferers can be given, but in the first instance, it is certainly good news that a delicious drink may help to combat this particular form of cancer.

The cancer starts life in the uterus lining and can be life-threatening. It has been said that the body secretes more oestrogen and insulin when this particular cancer is discovered and coffee seems to have an effect on these chemicals in the body.
The study considered more than 67,000 women between the ages of 34-59 and asked for information about their coffee drinking habits over a period of time – the experiment ran from 1980 to 2006.

More work needs to be done, but there is certainly an interest to find out whether these initial findings can be put to use in the future. It would be a wonderful thing if a breakthrough could be made in terms of cancer prevention.
