Does drinking coffee make you a psychopath?

Does drinking coffee make you a psychopath

Is our love of coffee rather sadistic? Does liking bitter foods and drinks make us more prone to prefer to see people suffer?

We’re not so sure but researchers at the Innsbruck University in Austria claim to have seen this hard to believe trend.

Maybe there could be some truth to it though…probably not though…

The Austrian study has some strong claims that those of us who enjoy bitter food or drinks like coffee, dark chocolate and gin-and-tonic are more likely to posses tendencies of psychopathy and every sadism.

One thousand people were asked a series of questions in a bid to decipher if they had sadistic tendencies.

Questions were answered by a ranking or grading scale, with those questioned having to agree or disagree with statements such as “I have threatened people I know” and “I enjoy tormenting people.”

We can already see a problem with this survey. But we shall continue regardless.

Those who enjoyed more bitter tasting food and drink, including coffee, we’re found to be much more likely to give answers that were considered sadistic or psychopathic.

The results apparently seem to suggest that those of us who like bitter tasting foods are seen to be more likely to have a dark personality.

As coffee drinkers (and G&T fans) we are shocked, but also a little bit disappointed by the ‘loaded’ nature of the report.

But then again, we are psychopathic in our love of the humble coffee bean. Maybe you need to be to work in the coffee industry?

We don’t like sugar in our coffee, so if you don’t like it quite as bitter as without, then we have plenty of sweetener options to get your coffee tasting just how you want!

We have to recommend our superb syrup range too, change up the flavour of coffee in an instant, or any other concoction, such is the flexibility of our Sweetbird syrups.

As for the ‘research’ you can read that right here.
