Dublin coffee shop shuts down fad eaters in amazing fashion

is this the best way to deal with fad-eaters

A Dublin based cafe have caused a mini-uproar after refusing to serve customers gluten-free menu items unless they can prove they are actually coeliac.

Well the cafe owners actually took to social media to rant about customers ‘having the cheek’ to ask for gluten-free options despite not suffering from the immune condition.

Is this the best way to deal with these fad-eaters though?

The White Moose Cafe in Dublin angered some with the rant on social networking site, Facebook.

Cafe owner Paul Stenson posted: “From now on, guests who demand gluten-free food are required to produce a doctor’s note which states that you suffer from coeliac disease. Guests following a gluten-free fad, who don’t even know what gluten is, can cop the f–k on and eat regular food like everybody else.”

The comments were misconstrued by some as serious, with many would be social justice warriors commenting that they “would not visit any time soon.”

Stenson is no stranger to controversy, having garnered online media attention for threatening online that: “Any vegans attempting to enter the cafe will be shot dead at point blank range,” earlier this year.

Clearly the dry humour is lost on some of the ‘professional victims of the internet’, although we wouldn’t ever recommend this kind of approach to customers and customer reviews, this is quite refreshing at a time when damage limitation is a much preferred approach by many businesses dealing with the same issues online.

All this newfound attention is doing wonders for the cafe, with Facebook fans from as far as New Zealand planning to visit Dublin with the purpose of visiting the cafe.

It is true that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

It turns out this was just a ‘bit of craic’ all along anyway. Storm in a teacup and all that…speaking of which, we have some quality crockery if you’re interested in taking a look?…
