The rise of the Turmeric Latte

Turmeric latte post

The turmeric latte is slowly infiltrated the world’s coffee shops.

Named as one of Google’s Food Trends for 2016, healthy options are becoming more important to young health conscious people who still want small indulgences once in a while.

Some are calling it yet another hipster fad, but surely there is more to it than just that?

High in probiotic bacteria, turmeric is said to help give health benefits such as healthier skin, better libido and more energy amongst other supposed health benefits.

Turmeric is the breakaway star of this new functional foods craze, according to Google, with searches in the past year growing some 300%.

The spice has almost garnered a cult following of health conscious foodies on Instagram, with celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow purported to use the spice daily.

Being used as an alternate to coffee in a latte form seems to be the latest health-craze, with many coffee shops offering it as an alternate to the traditional coffee latte.

The golden coloured drink can be combined with espresso to make a wide range of coffee concoctions too, providing a versatile ingredient for those willing to experiment with their menus.

We love the injection of colour into our more traditional coffee drinks, whilst the flavour offers options for a wider market of hot drink lovers.

Known as ‘golden milk’, the drink has been popular throughout portions of Asia for thousands of years, but is clearly on the rise now throughout the world.

Versatile, the drink can be made as an iced drink or even with an espresso, which leads to some interesting possibilities for the adventurous and experimental Barista.

Maybe it is a hipster health fad? Or maybe the turmeric revolution is here to stay, but we for one welcome more ways to enjoy our coffee shop excursions with an ever increasing list of beverage options.

What can be bad about that?

The guys behind the YouTube channel, MindfulBitez have made this excellent video on just how to go about making a Turmeric latte, which we think you’ll love:
