2017 drink trends to enhance your coffee shop menu

2017-drink-trends

2016 saw some of the weirdest and most wonderful drinks to emerge from around the world, with many artisan coffee shops putting their own stamp on a popular (or not so popular) espresso based (and sometimes with no espresso at all!) drinks.

But now it’s 2017, so what are we likely to see as the emerging 2017 drink trends that you really need to know about?

Don’t fear, we’ve looked high and low, got the lowdown, worked hard and found what we think could be the drinks that could enhance your menu this year.

Cold brew coffee

We feel guilty for mentioning cold brew, as cold brewed coffee has been around for quite some time; but with many restaurants, coffee shops, bars and of course supermarkets adding premade versions of the drink to their menu in the past 12 months, popularity looks set increase yet again in 2017.

Make sure you are thoroughly prepared and ready to make super cool, cold brew. Summer isn’t all that far away in reality.

Incredibly easy to make, low cost, and with a high profit margin. Why not add some cold brew to your menu?

Mocktails

Dry January is one of those periods, where many of us will seek to undo the damage done by our Xmas excesses.

Mocktails provide a way to offer your customers a great taste and drink experience without a drop of alcohol.

Cheap and easy to make, with big flavour and bright colours, a show-stopping range of mocktails could be a great way to fill out your menu.

The best thing about non-alcoholic cocktails? You don’t need a licence to serve them!

Coffee provides a great way to add a different flavour to your new drink range.

Plant-based water

Coconut water was one of the most popular drinks of the 2015/2016, with the range of options set to increase over the coming months.

Plant-based water is set to be one of the breakout drink choices of many of the health conscious up and down the country, with option for usage in drinks, or as a standalone option.

Popular options include Maple water, which tastes like an iced-tea and is actually low in calories and sugar, despite the sap being used to make maple syrup.

Expect to see even stranger options become available throughout 2017.

Fruit and plant based teas

What is becoming more and more clear with every complete rotation of the sun, is that our younger generations are favouring feel good food and drink options; and that includes items that provide a calming effect.

Tea is already a popular option, as are fruit blends, but with plant-power becoming ever more prominent there is scope for your cafe or coffee shop to lead the way in the tea market.

Green tea, camomille tea and much more are increasing in popularity as our tastes are slowly developing, and customers more aware.
