Coffee powered buses could soon be transporting London commuters

The iconic red double-decker bus could soon be powered by our various coffee drinking habits, as green entrepreneur Arthur Kay wants to help turn coffee grounds into a liquid fuel.

Biobean is the start-up behind the idea, the company gathers the waste product from the various coffee chains and independent coffee shops that litter (no pun intended) the London landscape.

Plans to unveil a coffee powered bus in the capital within the coming weeks are also in place, and we thought we needed caffeine to keep us ‘powered-up’!

Used coffee grounds could be used for biofuel

Despite what Donald Trump might think, there is a real problem with climate change, which has been exacerbated by our burning of fossil fuels to produce energy.

Future Americano, cappuccino and latte drinkers could help produce the raw materials for a much greener biofuel than is currently available, and help reduce our over-reliance on fossil fuels to power our day-to-day lives.

Used coffee grounds could be utilised as they offer a high calorific value, are low cost and tend to be dumped in landfill sites across the country.

Suspended coffee is everything that we love about people

The idea of buying a coffee for a stranger is probably quite unappealing to much of the British public, we do understand that, but what if that person’s circumstances were much different to your own?

Suspended coffee is a way for you to help someone who needs a hot drink slightly more than yourself, with a focus on vulnerable people or those without the means to provide for themselves.

Initially started over a hundred years ago in Italy, the tradition is fast becoming a part of our very own coffee culture here in the United Kingdom.

This bizarre trend has continued with a latte served in a carrot. Yes, a carrot latte. …continue reading Aussie coffee shop serves up latte in a carrot
