Speciality coffee: Colombian Finca Monique

Finca Monique micro-lot coffee

Colombia has a fine history of coffee growing, cultivating and roasting with some of the world’s finest coffee hailing from the South American nation.

With that in mind, we believe our micro-lot from the Luis Gonzaga Ordonez farm, Finca Monique, offers some of the finest beans which stand up against any coffee from any nation.

Which is a mean feat, when you factor in that Colombia is not only the world’s largest producer of washed Arabica, but also the second largest coffee producing nation in the world.

History

Located in the Huila region of San Agustin, within the Colombian Andes, the Finca Monique farm sits in the extremely biodiverse Colombian Massif region.

Defined as a perfect location for coffee growth, 14 rivers converge into one centralised site, which provides exceptional irrigation and water source management for farmers.

At 2000 metres above sea-level, and with unique rainfall patterns, all of these traits provide a strong framework to produce world-class coffee.

Finca Monique is owned by farmer Luis Gonzaga Ordonez, who has specialist in managing coffee associations in the Southern Huila region for over a decade.

A relatively modest farm of around five hecatres, Finca Monique even has it’s own washing mill and drying station, with the coffee being milled, processed and dried on raised beds to produce the best batches possible.
